RAYMARINE EV-DBW Drive-by-Wire Powerboat Autopilot System
Raymarine's Evolution Autopilots revolutionize accurate autopilot control by combining advanced aerospace guidance technology with Raymarine's extensive marine autopilot expertise. This innovative system eliminates the need for a setup compass swing or calibration and doesn't require adjustment to the specific boat in which it is installed. The Evolution Autopilot employs Evolution AI™ control algorithms, allowing it to perceive the environment, instantly calculate, and evolve steering commands for maximum performance. The result is precise and confident course-keeping, regardless of vessel speed or sea conditions.
At the core of the Evolution system are the ultra-compact EV sensor core, a nine-axis heading sensor and a full-function course computer. With a size comparable to a typical marine GPS sensor, the EV sensor core can be bracket-mounted or flush-mounted horizontally, accommodating installation above or below deck. Its IPX6 water-resistant rating ensures durability in maritime environments.
For vessels equipped with drive-by-wire steering systems like SeaStar Solutions Optimus 360, Volvo Penta IPS, or ZF Pod Drive, the EV-2 simplifies installation. It uses a direct DeviceNet (NMEA 2000) connection, offering seamless integration. Autopilot control is facilitated through the p70R control head. Setting up an Evolution autopilot is a quick 30-second process, involving the selection of boat type, drive type, and performance level.
Note: Evolution Autopilots communicate via SeaTalkng. A SeaTalkng to NMEA Converter Kit (E22158) may be required for connection to older Raymarine or non-Raymarine displays. Raymarine software version 1.21 is a minimum requirement.
The EV-DBW model is designed for the latest drive-by-wire steering systems, connecting directly to Raymarine's SeaTalkng bus. It features a dedicated CAN Bus port for direct connection to steer-by-wire steering systems like ZF Pod Drives, Volvo IPS (requires optional Volvo IPS gateway and additional cabling), and SeaStar Solutions Optimus systems. The EV-2 sensor core integrates seamlessly with DBW systems and Raymarine multi-function displays, providing spot-on coursekeeping and route tracking. The single CAN Bus connection eliminates the need for an ACU, streamlining installation for a true plug-and-play autopilot experience.
